The king is murdered while fighting against the intruders. According to his will, his adopted son, a well respected general, should be his successor, but the general insists the king's daughter to take the throne. Either one of them to be the new king would displease the king's nephew, who is secretly planning a coup. The princess is attacked when receiving military training in a forest and she is saved by a hermit, who was a member of a ruthless clan and gave up violence long ago...
