In December 1937, after suffering a heavy loss, the Japanese army broke into the Nanjing, the capital city of China. Trapped inside the city, a small number of soldiers were still fighting and others were simply thinking about survival. The Japanese began executing captured war prisoners and searching for women to rape. A six-week long holocaust begins...

 

This black and white film retells the story of the Nanjing (Nanking) Massacre, also known as the Rape of Nanking, which took the life of more than 300,000 people, from both sides of the horror. First film by Lu Chuan after his critically acclaimed Kekexili: The Mounttain Patrol.

The soldier’s passion brings back the memory of the girl’s older sister, who once worked at a pool ball club and the dream girl of every soldier in the island. She fell in love with an officer but their relationship ended with a misunderstanding…

Shot in Kinmen, a small island near the mainland China and under Taiwan’s control. The film tells stories of soldiers stationed in the island in the 1970s, who were forbidden to date local girls.
