The Characters

Li Mu Bai wanted to retire after years of fighting but were dragged into to a fatal battle with Jade Fox, the villain . 

 

Yu Shu Lien was in love with Li Mu Bai but both were bounded not to speak out.

 

 

 

 

 

Jade Fox killed Li Mu Bai's master, Jian Nan He (Southern Crane), for not being able to learn martial skills from him and other Wu Dang masters. During the final showdown, she poisoned Li Mu Bai to death, but not before being killed by him.

  

Maximus wanted to retire after years of fighting but were dragged into a fatal battle with Commodus, the villain. 

Lucilla was in love with Maximus but both were bounded not to speak out.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Commodus killed Maximus's master, Emperor Marcus Aurelius, for not being selected to succeed to the throne. During the final showdown, he poisoned Maximus to death, but not before being killed by him.

 

The Visual Effect

Early 18th century Beijing was digitally recreated by MVFX, which looks so real. 

 

Late 2nd century Rome was digitally recreated by Mill Film, which looks so unreal. 

 

Fighting the Tiger

Li Mu Bai had a close confrontation with the "tiger" - Lo. Lo's full name is Luo Xiao Hu and "Hu" means tiger. Jen's full name is Yu Jiao Long and "long" means dragon.

Maximus had a close confrontation with several tigers while fighting inside the Coliseum.

 

The Story

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was based on the same name novel by Wang Dulu written in 1941, although the storyline has been changed a lot. It is the fourth part of the Crane Crane Precious Sword Crouching Iron Pentalogy.  

Gladiator was "based on" the film The Fall of Roman Empire released in 1964, although the storyline has been changed a little bit.
