Looks like making Triangle
(Chinese literal title: “The Iron Triangle”) is something fun for
Tsui Hark, Ringo Lam and Johnnie To. Three best among Hong Kong
directors have decided to work again in another project, according
to one of the leads of Triangle, Luis Koo, who just had a
little conversation with an unidentified reporter working for an
unidentified firm, according to Shanghai-based Oriental Morning
Post. No detail, absolutely nothing about the possible second
collaboration of the trio, has been given by Koo. Looks like he is
in a hurry.
Tsui, Lam and To wrote and
directed the story of Triangle in a relay. Premiered in
Cannes, Triangle has yet drawn some positive reviews.
However, this film is primarily made for Asian, especially the
Chinese, and they may think differently after watching it.

We all know it is not easy for Johnnie To for
finishing a story started by Tsui Hark and continued by Ringo Lam.
But To was quite relaxed while shooting a night scene Wednesday in
Hong Kong, which shows Kelly Lin driving an antique convertible to
intercept Simon Yam on bike.
This thriller is due to be showcased during the
coming Cannes Film Festival as an Out of Competition feature.

Update: "Mary" has pointed out that these photos show Johnnie To
shooting a night scene for
The Sparrow, not Triangle.
The Sparrow, (aka. Cultured Bird, Man Jeuk, Wen Que), about
a story of pickpockets, went into production long before Triangle
was launched. Click

Several guys was given a treasure map by a mysterious man and the
map is only the first of a series puzzle they need to solve. This is
what Tsui Hark tells in the beginning of the story of
Triangle.
We do not know how Ringo Lam is going to develop the story and how
Johnnie To is going to end the story. No one what the story is all
about. Even the actors were kept in the dark when playing
their roles. The mystery will not be revealed until the movie is
released later this year.

TungStar just release a few pictures taken on one of
multiple locations of the
Triangle
(Chinese literal title: The Iron Triangle) while David Bordwell,
film theorist and author, was visiting. Tsui Hark, Ringo Lam and Johnnie
To take turns to write and direct the thriller set locally in Hong Kong.
Three independently made parts will eventually be combined together to
form one complete story. Johnnie To is currently approaching the end of
his part, the last one third of the movie.

This
still is released by
Celluloid Dreams,
the project’s international sales agent. Triangle (previously
known as The Iron Triangle and Jigsaw), is about one
story told by three Hong Kong master directors in a relay. Tsui
Hark, Ringo Lam and Johnnie To, who had known each other for
decades, took turn to develop the project, each one of them
independently wrote and directed a third of the film and they did
not discuss their parts with others. With no script and very limited
information about their roles, actors had to to figure out the
overall plot through scenes with fellow cast members. However,
everyone from the cast and all three directors are just like pieces
of a jigsaw puzzle and the final picture will only be revealed on
the big screen.
